Best known as that guy who was in that band before Wilco who may or not be Jeff Tweedy’s nemesis, Jay Farrar has actually had a successful post-Uncle Tupelo career with his own band Son Volt as well as through his solo work.
As one of the founding fathers of Alt-Country, a genre that’s not so far from the Americana and folk rock obsession that has taken the world by storm over the past few years, Farrar is a master lyricist who specializes in country-tinged rock mixed with experimental tendencies. Nearly two years after teaming up with once (and future?) Seattle full-time resident Ben Gibbard, Farrar is back in Seattle for a highly-anticipated show at the Tractor with Bobby Bare Jr.
