Summer Snapshot: Sub Pop’s Silver Jubilee, Sir Paul and More

Mark your calendars! Just this morning, Sub Pop announced Silver Jubilee, a huge “25th anniversary public display of affection,” will take place July 13, 2013 in Georgetown.

According to the legendary indie powerhouse, the big, free event will feature:

Actual live bands, playing actual live music! Some sort of art-related something or other! Like, in a gallery space, we’re thinking! A record fair-type event! Food! Beer and wine! (The food and beer and wine and soda or whatever, you will have to pay for! These parts are not free!) Good times and opportunities to embarrass yourself and those who’d always hoped for better for you!

Don’t miss the video announcement featuring some elder statesmen of grunge along with a not so subtle hint(?) that Soundgarden may make an appearance. Either way, this should be a fun mix of nostalgia and now.

With Paul McCartney playing Safeco the following week (7/19) and Capitol Hill Block Party starting on 7/26, July’s looking like the month to see all your favorites under the elusive Seattle sun.

At this point, the Silver Jubilee lineup includes:

  • Mudhoney
  • J Mascis
  • Greg Dulli
  • Shabazz Palaces (with THEESatisfaction)
  • Shearwater
  • Father John Misty
  • Pissed Jeans
  • The Baptist Generals
  • Brothers of the Sonic Cloth (feat. Tad Doyle)
  • Endino’s Earthworm (feat. Jack Endino)
  • And, of course, more TBA…
