Best. Weekend. Ever. Sub Pop, Geek Rock and Local Love

In case you haven’t heard, this weekend is going to be epic for music fans in the Emerald City! We haven’t looked forward to a weekend so much in quite some time!

To celebrate Seattle’s most iconic indie record label, Sub Pop, Mudhoney and friends will be playing on the roof of the Space Needle today. Not a concert for the faint of heart or acrophobes, but definitely of interest for fans of Seattle’s grunge roots, you can live stream the whole thing with KEXP: http://kexp.org/live/spaceneedle.

If that isn’t enough Sub Pop for you, the label’s 25th anniversary bash in Georgetown is taking place on Saturday. It’s a free – that’s right, FREE – event, featuring sets from Built to Spill, Shearwater, Mudhoney, Shabazz Palaces, Father John Misty and more. You can check out the full details here: http://silverjubilee.subpop.com/info. Final line-up and set times below.

For the geekier music fans out there, Arcade Armageddon is taking place at the Vera Project on Saturday as well. Even if you don’t play video games, you can come check out some of the finest video-game inspired bands you may ever see. There will be sets from Mega Ran, The Icarus Kids, Danimal Cannon and Fighter X. You can check out the full details for this event here: http://www.arcadearmageddon.com/.

And lastly, if none of the above appeals to you, you can always head over to Barboza to check out local songstress Whitney Lyman.

If all this combined doesn’t make for a great music weekend in Seattle, we don’t know what else would!
